GPTA Patrons Reminder

This is a reminder that the second meeting regarding the renovation/upgrade of the Gaines Park Tennis complex is scheduled for this Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 6:30PM in the Gaines Park Gymnasium (same as before).  Please plan to attend to make your voice heard as we advocate for the needs of our community facility.  GPTA has studied the needs, given the budget constraints and we are advocating for the following.  Please see our position/recommendations below.  We ask that you join us to make certain that these recommendations are approved.

GPTA Renovation Recommendations/Position

  1. Tennis courts should increase from 6 to 8.
    1. This would allow us to host USTA sanctioned events and increase the number of patrons that we can serve.
  2. Fully renovated/resurfaced courts.
    1. Greatly improves safety and playing conditions.
  3. Replace current lighting with state-of-the-art LED Lighting.
    1. This allows to us expand night play activity and improves safety.
  4. Retaining practice hitting wall.
  5. New tennis/racquet sports operations building with a class space, and interior restroom facilities with a viewing area.
    1. Allows for Teaching/Training.
    2. Improves safety.
    3. Improves equipment storage capacity and adds administrative space.
  6. Improve shading – awning between tennis courts and shaded viewing/resting areas
  7. Better lighting from parking lot to tennis complex.

If you cannot attend in person, we have included this link for you to call in and listen to the meeting.  You will not be able to speak but you will be able to put your question in the chat and someone will ask it for you.  Thanks in advance and we hope to see you on Thursday.
